Central Florida FMNP Grads and
Instructors Enjoy Indian River Lagoon Tour
Saturday, May 6th was a perfect day for a
boat ride tour of the Indian River Lagoon (IRL). Close to 40 FMNP
Graduates, Instructors, and their quests were treated to a scenic tour
by Bruce Jaildagain, FMNP Instructor, with the Marine Discovery Center.
Eleanor Foerste, FMNP Instructor, assisted.

Before even leaving the dock, dolphins and a
manatee made an appearance for the group. The tour boat took the group
around to see rookeries used by both pelicans and egrets. The three
types of mangrove were identified and various plant samples were passed
around for examination. The tour lasted from 1 to 3 p.m. and the weather
was absolutely great. Everyone had a good time learning about the
ecology of the IRL and appreciated the work of the folks at the Marine
Discovery Center.
