Newsletter FAQ

What is the difference between the online and print versions of the newsletter?

The online version is optimized for viewing on the web and has a small file size for fast downloading. It can also be printed, but the images will be low quality.

The print version is optimized for printing and has a large file size (longer download). This version is good for printing or viewing onscreen if you are willing to wait a little longer for the download.

I can't open the newsletter. Do I need special software?

Yes, the newsletters are in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF). You will need to download and install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader 4 or higher.

I get the error messages "Could not find the ColorSpace named 'Cs6'" and "This file contains information not understood by the viewer." when I open the newsletter.

Upgrade your version of Acrobat Reader to 4 or higher. The newsletter is in CMYK color mode (optimized for printing) and Acrobat Reader >version 3 has problems parsing files in this mode.

Why isn't the newsletter in another format such as Microsoft Word (.doc), Corel WordPerfect (.wpd), or HTML?

The file size of the newsletter when saved as a Word or WordPerfect document is simply too large to be offered on the web. An HTML version would be very time consuming to construct and would also look terrible when printed. Acrobat files are generally small and print very well.

Are other formats available?

There are currently no other formats available.

How do I copy and paste text from the newsletter into another document?

  • First, download and install Acrobat Reader 4 or higher.
  • Open the newsletter.
  • Click the Text Select Tool in the Acrobat toolbar or just press "V" on the keyboard.
  • Highlight the desired text with cursor.
  • Click the Copy button on the Acrobat toolbar.
  • Paste text into another document.
