Northwest Florida Opportunities Position Announcement Anticipated Hiring by January 2005 Position Title: Education and Training Specialist (Environmental Specialist I - $13.50/hour OPS- no benefits) Organization: Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve Organization's Mission: To improve the understanding and stewardship of the Apalachicola Region's estuaries and coastal watersheds. Location: Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve, 261 7th Street, Apalachicola, Florida Position Summary: The Education and Training Specialist will work with the Reserve's Education Section and Coastal Training Program (CTP) staff to develop, provide and promote educational and training opportunities offered by the Reserve. Emphasis of the Education and Training Specialist's work will be on estuary, watershed, and marine education activities; including field study, professional training, visitor services, and delivery of on-site and off-site K-12 programs and adult training. The position will be responsible for working with the CTP Coordinator in training professionals in coastal issues; organizing speakers, participants and logistics; and assisting with management and planning of training activities, facilities and equipment at the Reserve.
