Size- Males; 1/8-1/4", Females; 3/8"
Identifiers- triangular abdomen, mottled red and yellow
Adaptations- female has 2 dark red long spines on back
Status
- found throughout Florida
Distribution- eastern U.S.A.
Habitat- woodland edges, shrub meadows, agriculture areas
Reproduction- female deposits egg masses on leaves, then dies
Diet- small insects
Fun facts
- orb weaver, spin circular webs to capture prey
- coloring and sharp spines discourage birds from eating it
