Identifiers- 8", basal leaves, lavender 5 lobed corolla flower
Adaptations- carnivorous plant
Status
- throughout Florida, common native species
Distribution- North Carolina, south to Florida, east to Texas
Habitat- moist pineland forests
Fun facts
- Bladderwort family; Lentibulariaceae
- 6 native Florida Pinguicula species; 3 state threatened, 2 state endangered
- latin word "pinguis" means grease, referring to the oily leaf surface which traps insects
