Corn snake

Size- 18-44"
Identifiers- background varies from gray to orange,
orange/red splotches bordered in black
- belly; black and white checkerboard
Adaptations- spear shaped pattern on top of head                     
Status
- found throughout Florida
Distribution- from New Jersey to Louisiana
Reproduction- 3-40 eggs laid in June
Habitat- pinelands, hardwood hammocks, agricultural/urban areas
Diet- rodents, lizards, frogs, bird eggs
Fun facts
- corn farmers often found them hunting rodents in corn cribs
- coloration/pattern similar to mole kingsnake but corn snake has a more pronounced neck
- Non-venomous; also called Red Rat snake or Chicken snake
