Identifiers- bright green body with white strips along bottom of jaw and down side 2"
Adaptations- sticky toe pads for climbing, horizontal pupils
Status
- found throughout Florida
Distribution- southeastern U.S.A.
Habitat- swamps, lowland river bottoms, marshes, wet prairies
Reproduction- small egg mass laid on aquatic vegetation
Diet-
insects, invertebrates
Fun facts
- choruses of hundreds heard during and after rain
- folklore claims them to be "weather prophets"
- color varies from gray to brown when inactive
