Regal Jumping Spider
Phidippus regius

Body- .05-1"
Characteristics- Males are black with black and white legs
- females can be black but are usually orange with brown
Status- common Florida spider
Reproduction- 1-4 silken nests, 100+ eggs in each nest
Distribution- Southern U.S.A., Bahamas
Habitat - fields, open woods, palmettos
Diet - other insects
Fun facts -
- largest jumping spider in eastern North America
- eyes are arranged in 3 rows
- will deliver a painful bite, but can be tamed to jump
