Six-lined Racerunner

Size- 9 1/2"
Identifiers- brown body, 6 light stripes,
- square belly plates, juveniles have a blue tail
Adaptations- males; blue throat and belly,
-longer hind legs for speed, pointed snout                         
Status
- found throughout Florida
Distribution- Florida, east to Texas, central Missouri
Reproduction- 4-6 white oval eggs laid in debris
Habitat- beach dunes, dry upland areas
Diet- insects
Fun facts
- 'races' to shady spots to avoid hot sand
- burrows into the sand in the hot afternoons
