Identifiers- large dark iridescent body,
- naked head, large fan tail
Adaptations- long legs, strong feet
Status- common throughout Florida
Distribution- this subspecies found only in FL
Habitat- pine flatwoods, mixed hardwood forests
Reproduction- 10 light colored/brown eggs
- laid in tall grass or shrubs
Diet- acorns, fruit, seeds
Fun facts
- elaborate male courtship displays to harems
- roost in trees at night for protection
- restocking began 1948, recovered by 1970's
